Meshmerize uses a decentralized device-to-device communications approach to ensure reliable and low-latency performance for moving assets operating in highly dynamic environments. Thanks to innovative multi-path routing algorithms, drones and robotic vehicles can move freely across the network, despite handovers, blind spots and other external interference.
Unlike technologies such as 5G, which creates a single and reliable but relatively expensive link between the base station and end devices, Meshmerize combines multiple pre-existing inexpensive and less reliable links into a resilient and dependable network. The versatile technology finds the best network route between two nodes – whether that is through the mesh directly, or via Ethernet or even 4G/5G cellular networks.
Meshmerize for Drones
Meshmerize allows operators to rapidly deploy versatile mesh networks that adapt dynamically to the needs of drone swarms and large-scale autonomous operations, expanding beyond the capabilities of cellular links and enabling BVLOS applications over long distances.
By combining multiple unreliable links into one rock-solid network, Meshmerize eliminates single points of failure, and can achieve latencies as low as 100 ms or less. As a layer 2 implementation, Meshmerize runs on WiFi, sub-Ghz radio, and 5G (Sidelink).
The technology also enables sophisticated collision avoidance, with each drone continuously broadcasting its 3D location five times per second. While this continuous flow of location data can lead to multiple drones redundantly circulating the same message and overloading regular mesh networks, Meshmerize avoids this with sophisticated echo detection techniques. Unnecessary rebroadcasts are intelligently minimized, with the critical location data being efficiently disseminated across the swarm.
Meshmerize for Ground Robotics
Meshmerize is also ideal for AGVs (autonomous ground vehicles) and AMRs (autonomous mobile robotics), supporting Industry 4.0 requirements for low-latency connectivity in dynamic applications such as manufacturing and logistics.
Thanks to highly effective multipath routing, the technology can connect up to 100+ robots roaming in environments with multiple floors, walls and significant obstructions. Networks can be expanded effortlessly without the need for additional cabling, ensuring scalable and seamless mobility with near-zero handover time between access points.
