Compact Iridium Data SATCOM moduleThe RockBLOCK 9603 provides OEMs and system integrators with a low-SWaP (size, weight and power) solution for integrating Iridium Short Burst Data capabilities into space-constrained UAV designs. Weighing just 36 grams with a footprint of 45 x 45 x 15mm, it can be easily integrated into a wide variety of platforms.

Based around the Iridium 9603N modem, the versatile device provides a reliable failover connection for BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) drones operating in areas where RF and cellular communications are unavailable or unreliable. Short Burst Data is ideal for sending simple operational commands and receiving drone data such as position, altitude and speed. Airtime is available in two formats: a pay-as-you-go option and an annual contract option.

RockBLOCK 9704The RockBLOCK 9704 is a compact satellite communication module based on the Iridium Certus 9704 transceiver. Supporting the Iridium Messaging Transport (IMT) protocol, it enables reliable two way IP messaging with packet loads of up to 100KB, delivered over the Iridium global satellite network.

Intended for both prototyping and integration into deployed platforms, the RockBLOCK 9704 provides a straightforward setup process and includes C and Python libraries to support custom development. Connectivity management, airtime, and data routing can be handled through Cloudloop, Ground Control’s dedicated IoT management platform, which offers integration options for a range of applications.
